The following ideas are based on Joyce Wehman’s Winning!
In order to win, there are 3 rules that must be observed. Use Koch house system for both the event and natal chart.
Rule 1:
A transiting planet, literally any planet except Saturn and Neptune unless they are in retrograde) must conjunct, square or oppose (see Note 1) at least one of the gambling placements in your natal chart.
According to Wehman, the gambling placements would be the following houses and the planets that are in or rule the following houses:
- 5th or 11th of hopes and wishes
- 9th of gambling or luck or the 10th represents the money from gambling or luck where the 10th is the 2nd from the 9th
- 2nd or 8th
- ASC or MC as they represent you
- Degree of the Sun
Orb
15 minutes applying and 1 minute separating except for transiting Mars and Moon which would be 30 minutes applying.
Rule 2: On the Wheel
Any house cusp of the event chart, except the 6th or 12th, must conjunct, oppose or square a gambling placement in your natal chart. The gambling placements would be either house cusps or planets in your natal chart.
From what I understand, Wehman thinks that the 9th house is a relevant gambling house as it’s the natural house of Sagittarius which rules luck.
Orb
15 minutes applying and 1 minute separating except for transiting Mars and Moon which would be 30 minutes applying.
Rule 3
Transiting Mars, Saturn and Neptune will make midpoints. Avoid gambling when a transiting midpoint involving any two of those planets activates your natal chart.
Orb
Use a two minute orb applying and one minute orb separating.
Other Thoughts
Wehman didn’t mention about using progressions or solar arcs to time when to gamble. I have seen on a website (I can’t remember which one) that progressions are used.
Note 1: Trines can be used in very limited circumstances.
