A friend asked Appleby the astrologer whether her friend is pregnant without her knowledge. The answer seems to be yes although I think the cosmos is asking the friend to mind her business [Saturn in retrograde in 1st]
Usually, I would use the 1st house as I take it that the person asked the question has sympathetic interests as the quesited. However, in this case, the way Appleby has written the introduction seems to suggest that the question was asked by a curious friend instead of a friend that’s really concerned about the pregnancy of her friend.
My intuition told me to stick with the 11th. Let’s go with my modus operandi, which I doubt the use of here, first and see how the judgement pans out. Saturn in retrograde is in the 1st house. Seldom anything or nothing good would come out of this. So, I’m inclined to say no. She’s not pregnant. But wait, the 5th ruler is Saturn and it is in the 1st house. It is applying to Neptune by Square. This could be a time of transition, chaos at home or there’s confusion or lack of clarity over the identity of the father of the child perhaps in the hospital. Prior to that, Sun applied to Saturn by trine. Sun is in the 9th and rules the 12th. I wonder whether there was a hidden affair with a foreign man about 9 degrees ago? This seems to be confirmed by Mercury leaving the conjunction with the Sun about 8.5 degrees ago. The number 9 keeps popping up. It couldn’t be 9 weeks as Appleby states that at the time of the question, he later found out that the friend has been pregnant for 3 months].
